Ballet is firmly rooted in tradition - the movements were first codified by Louis XIV in the 1600s - and graded exams are a proud part of that tradition. Our dancers train in the Cecchetti method towards ISTD graded exams, which give them clear goals, a recognised measure of their technique and a real sense of achievement. We also know how much mental wellbeing, a healthy body image and a genuine enjoyment of dance matter in keeping that love of ballet burning bright.
